Emergency Appeal Update – Fully Funded!

The Shepherd Fund and Jehovah Jireh Children’s Home are excited to update you on our emergency appeal. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, we have the funds to pay for the well pump repair in Kenya. Funds have been transferred to pay the contractor and water is restored to the home and the neighborhood. All funds collected through this appeal above the cost of repair are being used to establish a capital repair fund. This will provide for future repairs to the home and facilities when unexpected events, like this well pump failure, happen. You are still welcome to contribute through the emergency appeal donation page if you would like to support the capital repair fund.

May you be blessed in the Christmas season of joy and giving. Your generosity has most certainly blessed the children of Jehovah Jireh and the neighbors who rely on the well for water. Thank you very much. Or, as we say in Swahili, asante sana!

Emergency Appeal

We received word overnight 15 December that the well pump at Jehovah Jireh has failed. This is a picture of the damaged pump. As of right now there is no water at the children’s home. Thankfully, the children are all assigned to foster homes for the Christmas holiday so there is time to make the repair before they return. This well also provides revenue for Jehovah Jireh as neighbors purchase water from the well.

An emergency repair is happening now with the contractor agreeing to forego payment until funds are raised. We are inviting you to consider and make your most generous contribution to cover the cost of restoring water to Jehovah Jireh. The estimated cost of repair is the equivalent of $2,000 U.S. and any amount you give will help us reach our goal. Click the donate button and make your contribution today.

Jehovah Jireh Children’s Home

Nearly fifty children call Jehovah Jireh home. Located on the grounds of an abandoned rock quarry, Jehovah Jireh started as a vision imparted to the late Anglican Archbishop of Nairobi. Upon his untimely death the orphanage was passed on to the stewardship of the Nairobi Diocese of the Anglican Church.

While providing home, care and hope for the children, the orphanage has many challenges and a big vision for the future. The Shepherd Fund is part of that vision connecting resources from U.S. donors to the team in Nairobi. Your donations have a direct impact on the lives of children. A monthly gift of just $40 provides for the care of a child. Gifts of any size help provide food, clothes, school supplies and staff compensation.
